Senior AI Engineer (Associate)

Remote-first · Part-time / Associate · Competitive

We are looking for experienced AI engineers who want to work with us on a flexible, associate basis — joining projects where your expertise can unlock progress for our clients.

This is a good fit if you already have your own projects or clients, but want to collaborate with a small, senior team on interesting work where AI, infrastructure, and security meet.

Role overview

You will collaborate with us and client teams on scoped pieces of work: designing architectures, implementing features, improving reliability, and helping teams adopt AI safely and effectively.

Engagements might be anything from a short sprint to help ship a key feature, to a longer advisory role where you are the “go-to” technical partner on AI topics.

You will typically join projects where there is already momentum and a clear need for senior support; your role is to bring clarity, unblock hard problems, and leave teams in a better place than you found them, with patterns they can keep using after the engagement ends.

What you might work on

  • Designing and building LLM-powered features, agents, or internal tools.
  • Improving performance, reliability, and observability of existing AI systems.
  • Advising teams on architecture, evaluation approaches, or good practices around AI integration.
  • Working alongside infrastructure and security specialists to ship robust solutions.
  • Helping teams make sensible technology choices and avoid over-complicating early-stage systems.

About you

  • Experienced AI / software engineer with a track record of shipping production systems.
  • Comfortable working independently with clients, structuring work, and communicating clearly.
  • Available for part-time or project-based engagements alongside other commitments.
  • Interested in working as a trusted partner rather than via large agencies.
  • Enjoys moving between high-level design conversations and hands-on implementation when needed.

How to apply

Send us a short note with your background, examples of previous work, and how you like to structure associate engagements.
